CAIRO – 29 November 2017: The 2017 Greek Psychological horror “The Killing of a Sacred Deer”, starring Collin Farrell and Nicole Kidman, will screen at Zawya Cinema on December 1.

The latest from Yorgos Lanthimos, best known for his previous feature “The Lobster”, this grim, absurd thriller follows Steven Murphy (Farrell) an accomplished heart surgeon with a loving wife, Anna (Kidman) and two children. Everything seems perfect in life until a dark secret from the past catches up to him in a most insidious manner in the form of Martin (Barry Keoghan), a teenage boy who Steven forms a mysterious bond with. When Martin reveals a curse has been placed on Steven’s family, he realizes he must make a horrific choice to avoid the deaths of all he loves.

Zawya Cinema was launched in March, 2014 by Misr International Films as means of being the first art-house dedicated Cinema in Egypt. Films from all across the world have been shown at Zawya, ranging from documentaries to short films to full features, and the cinema also includes programs and events aimed at nurturing local talent and educating people on cinema.
