Belabbes’s movie portrays a touching story of a family of farmers in Morroco struggling against everyday hardships. M’barek is a humble farmer whose family has lived on the same plot of land for generations. His wife Ida is expecting another child and his first son, Ayoub, has Down’s syndrome and M’barek’s old father constantly calls out for his wife’s name.
One day, an extreme drought grips the country, threatening their livelihood. The situation turns even more severe for M’barek when the bank demands that he pays his debts or else the land will be confiscated from him.
