CAIRO – 8 November 2017: French actor and director Thierry de Peretti will be teaching special techniques on scriptwriting on November 17 at Cimatheque – Alternative Film Center as part of the 10th Panorama for European Film that runs from November 8 to November 18.

An award-winning Villa Medicis Hors – Les-Murs, Peretti has also pursued an acting career where he played a role in “Le Silence” (2004), “L’Eté Indien” (Indian Summer) (2008) and “Ceux Qui M’aiment Prendront le Train” (Those Who Love Me) (1998).

He directed the feature-length “Les Apaches” that was selected at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2013; however, his revolutionary film

“Une Vie Violente”

(A Violent Life) was premiered at the Critics Week segments at the Cannes Festival in 2017.

Peretti has also contributed to the theater platform where he won the Theatrical Revelation Prize from the National Labor Syndicate of Criticism in 2001 for his work “Le Retour au Désert” (Return to the Desert).

The 10th Panorama for European Film

spans over 11 days featuring film screenings across six governorates in Egypt in efforts to diversify the Egyptian cinematic scene. The film screenings that are part of this edition will take place in film venues such as Cairo's Zawya and Zamalek cinemas in addition to the free screenings at the Goethe Institut and French Institution in Egypt.

The program in this edition will feature 55 films ranging from features, documentaries, short films and archival films from 26 European countries including Germany, France, Georgia, Bulgaria, Austria, Hungary, and Ukraine among others.

Promoting diversity comes as a result of encouraging Egyptians to see an array of works from different cultures besides the workshops and lectures given by professional directors and filmmakers to promote the cinematic scene, according to the edition’s director Malak Makar who spoke to Egypt Today.
