CAIRO – 29 October 2017: The Yemeni embassy in Cairo organized a festival on Saturday celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Yemeni revolution called “Old History of Yemen” at the Cairo Opera House.

Inaugurated by the Yemeni ambassador in Cairo Mohamed Ali Maram, the opening ceremony included a Yemeni Heritage exhibition and the screening of a documentary film about Yemen’s revolution. A photo exhibition and a folklore performance were also present, depicting the country’s culture and history.

Advisor of the Yemeni Presidency, Egyptian ambassador in Yemen Youssef El Sharkawy, a number of parliamentary members as well as Yemeni and Egyptian intellectuals attended the ceremony, according to state agency Egynews.

The festival will celebrate a number of events, including the 54th anniversary of the October 14th Revolution and the Evacuation Day in Yemen (Aden Emergency), when British troops withdrew from Yemen on November 30, 1967.
