CAIRO – 28 October 2017: Renowned cinematographer Saeed Shemy will be leading a cinema photography workshop at Cima in Downtown on November 4 to teach participants some of the basics and techniques of cinematography.

The workshop will focus on the methods required to create an adequate and creative photo composition, including the use of lighting, camera lenses and other techniques, according to the event’s official Facebook page.

Sheemy has been a cinematographer for some of the well-known films in Egyptian cinema, including “El Hareef” (The Professional), “El A’ar” (Shame), “El Bare’e” (The Innocent), “Sawa’a El Autobees” (The Bus Driver), “Gezeert El Shetan” (Satan’s Island), “Ded El Hekooma” (Against Government), and “Salam Ya Sahby” (Goodbye My Friend), among others.

A former student of the Faculty of Literature at Cairo University, Sheemy dropped out of college to pursue cinematic studies at the High Institute of Cinema and later pursued a career in filmmaking, where he worked as a director of photography for many years. He contributed in the making of many films for the Film Forum in Cairo.
