CAIRO – 22 October 2017: Head of Theater House, Ismail Mokhtar, announced Cairo Puppet Theater has begun three ongoing performances, according to a public statement released on Sunday.

The three performances include “Cinderella,” composed by playwright Ahmed Zaki and directed by Lotfy El Sayed; “Sahsah Lam Yangeh” (Sahsah Didn’t Succeed) composed by prominent playwright Salah Gaheen and directed by Salah El Sakka; and “Behert El Baga’a” (Swan Lake) composed and directed by Shokry Abduallah.

Each of the three performances will be displayed through 10 shows alongside rehearsals for the new performance “Rehlet El Zaman El Gameel” (Journey of the Good Times), composed by Yehia Zakria and directed by Mohamed Anwar.

Cairo Puppet Theater has previously participated in several events organized by the Supreme Council of Culture including performances carried out in public schools located in slums.

The troupe earlier this month performed “El Leila El Kebeera” (The Great Night) puppet play for residents at Sayeda Zeinab district.

Located in Attaba district, Cairo Puppet Theater (Al-Arayes Theater) was established in 1959 as the biggest puppet theater in the Arab region, delivering puppet shows and local art works. Accommodating 300 spectators, the theater also overlooks the Attaba book market.
