CAIRO – 19 October 2017: Darb 1718 Contemporary Art and Culture Center has announced its first ever Photography festival, “CAIROGRAPHIE,” which is set to open on Sunday, November 5, and will continue running until December.

In Collaboration with the Photophobia school of Photography, the CAIROGRAPHIE Festival aims at celebrating photography and video, and brings together artists at all stages of their career, from hobbyists to the well-established. The festival also aims at raising awareness of various issues through the usage of photography and video, providing artists and attendees with the opportunity for interaction.

CAIROGRAPHIE plans to feature a unique theme every year, with the current edition’s theme titled “Transition.” Developed by photographer Karim al-Hayawan, “Transition” deals with the concept of change and focuses on its relationship to art, using contemporary photography to explore how we respond to and deal with the infinite change in life.
