CAIRO – 11 October 2017: Balcon Heliopolis will screen the historical drama film "The Zookeeper’s Wife" (2017) on Friday, October 13.

The film recounts the true events of the Warsaw Zoo in 1939, on the onset of WWII and the insidious rise of Nazi Germany. After their zoo is emptied, the owners of the Polish zoo, Jan and Antonina Zabinski, hatch a heroic scheme to smuggle in hundreds of Poland’s Jewish population out of Germany’s sights, sparing them the horrors of the coming Holocaust as the Nazi regime sweeps over Europe.

This film details the horrors of the holocaust, and the sheer bravery it takes to dare to do what is right in the face of sheer evil.

"The Zookeeper’s Wife" won The Heartland Film’s "Truly Moving Picture Award" and the "Audience Choice Award" at the Seattle Jewish Film Festival.
