CAIRO- 30 September 2017: The Cairo Opera Ballet Company is set to perform the famous ballet show “La Corsaire”, which comes back to Cairo Opera House Theater after it stopped two and a half years ago. The famous ballet show will be presented in six concerts from September 29 to October 2 at 8 p.m. in the Main Hall.

The show is characterized by the splendour and integration of all its artistic elements, such as decoration, lighting, clothing and visual effects, which succeed in turning the stage during one of the scenes to be like a sea. The show was inspired by a poem by the famous English poet Lord Byron, and it revolves around three chapters in front of a port in the Levant after the crash of a pirate ship due to a severe storm and the survival of the ship leader, named Noureldin, and his servant Ali.

Noureldin falls in love with Yasmine, who saved him from death. Later, Ahmed, the slaves’ merchant, manages to capture Yasmin with some other girls to sell to the rich Said Pasha. After a long struggle, Noureldin succeedes in saving his lover and her colleagues, and they all escape from the Pasha’s palace. It is worth mentioning that the first performance of “La Corsaire” was at the Paris Opera Theater in 1856.
