Cairo- 25 September 2017: El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) honored Lebanese cinematographer Ziad Doueiri with the “Variety Best Arab Talent Award” on Sunday.

continues to publish its packed schedule for the festival’s fourth day, including film screenings, on ground interviews and panel discussions, according to a GFF press release.

The film screenings include “Brimstone & Glory”, which revolves around a pyrotechnic festival in Mexico and explores rituals and the beauty of fireworks. The screenings also include “Manifesto” by Julian Rosefeldt, which depicts the artistic beauty of an artistic manifesto and redefines the role of today’s artists.

Other screenings include “Soufra”, which portrays life in a refugee camp in Lebanon. The Egyptian film “Photocopy” by Tamer Ashryalso premiered at the Marina Theater in El Gouna.

The cast of all films will be available for on the ground interviews on Tuesday.

A panel discussion was also carried out Monday at Audimax Theater, led by UNHCR about humanity. The panel discussed the consequences of climate change and supported the presented argument with two films, entitled “Chasing Coral” and “An Inconvenient Sequel”.

The discussion will further elucidate the issue of climate change and the future of corals, highlighting the method of storytelling as the most effective tool for conservation and tackling global environments, the statement read.

Emerging Arab and Egyptian filmmakers geared up to participate in the first anticipated edition of El Gouna Film Festival (GFF), which is running between September 22 and September 29 at El Gouna in Hurghada.

Sponsored by the Egyptian Culture Ministry and Egyptian Tourism Authority, GFF seeks to foster different cinematic voices and generate opportunities to further develop creativity in the MENA region.
