CAIRO – 23 September 2017: The Bodleian String Quartet will introduce a number of classic and contemporary music selections at Makan on September 26.

Japanese violinist Megumi Saruhashi and Egyptian singer Ahmad Al Refay will participate with Bodleian String. Bodleian String is a group of musicians who studied at Oxford University.

The quartet will perform for the first time oriental music for classic and contemporary composers. This concert is a part of the quartet’s tour in Egypt.

The first part of the program includes classic music, such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's “Adagio” and “Fugue in C Minor”, Mauric Ravel's “String Quartet in F Major”, and George Fredric Handel's “Arrival of the Queen of Sheba”.

The second part of the program includes contemporary music songs, such as Sayed Darwish's “El Helwa Dy”, Abdel Halim Hafez's “Ahwak”, Traditional Andalusian song “Lamma Bada Yatathanna”, and Omm Kalthoum's “Alf Lila Wi Lila”.

The line-up of the concert is Megumi Saruhashi on violin, Helena Kaznowska on violin, Sofi Frankford on viola, and Samuel Whitby on cello.

In addition, the Egyptian singer and chanter Ahmed Al Refay will perform. He is a singer in many trending projects, like Saleeb Sufi Project and Samaa Chanting Band.
