Cairo – 21 September 2017: Cairo Comics Festival will host a free comic event featuring Bent Al Masarwa music band and political cartoonist Doaa Eladl in the CairoComix's opening ceremony on Friday, CairoComix’s Facebook page reported on Thursday.

The event will take place at the former American University in Cairo’s main campus, at 7:30 pm in Ewart Hall. The band will be performing with the drawings of Doaa Eladl being projected live behind the band.

Bent Al Masarwa is a feminist Egyptian music band whose music production is based on their and other women’s life experiences, the group’s Facebook page mentioned.


Doaa Eladl

is a political cartoonist who worked for Al Dostor, Rosa Al Youssef and Sabah El Kheir and currently works at Al Masry Al Youm. She won the Egyptian Journalists' Union Award for the best cartoonist in 2009, the Facebook event page said.



CairoComix

is an artistic celebration that brings the Egyptian public together with local and international comic book artists and awards many prizes like the Best Published Graphic Novel in Arabic, the festival’s Facebook page reported.
