‘Shaman’ to be performed at CIFCET

CAIRO - 19 September 2017: Theater troupe from Al-Ghad Theater will be casting the Egyptian play “Shaman” as part of the 24th edition of Cairo International Festival for Contemporary & Experimental Theater (CIFCET) on September 21 and September 22 at Al-Ghad Theater.


The play is about how an individual treats himself or herself from mental and spiritual diseases on the subconscious level. It visualizes the spiritual experience of Sufism, which represents innocence and love.


Directed by Saeed Suleiman, “Shaman” stars Ziad Abu Musa, Mai Rushdi, Mostafa al-Zayat, Shams Abdel Nasser, Mohamed Abdel Fattah, Ahmed Raafat, Mary Girgis, Nora Nour, Silvia Sami, Omar Hussain, Hossam Hamed , Mu'adh Askar, Mustafa Mansour, Islam Osama, Mahmoud Abdel Mohsen, and Nehal al-Qadi.

Outfits are by Nihad al-Sayed, while the play was composed by Hani Abdel Nasser, and the play’s décor is by Sobhi Abdel Gawad.


CIFCET is running between September 19 and September 29, featuring an array of interactive seminars, workshops, and plays. It is going to stage in several venues including Al-Ghad Theater, Miami Theater, Salam Theater, and Hanager Theater amongst others.


The festival features national, regional and international performances from across the world. Three Egyptian theatrical performances will be participating one of which is “Shaman” as well as “The Day They Killed Singing,” “The Bridge,” “The Forty Rules of Love,” “The Experiment,” “The Ambassador” and “Women with No Tomorrow.”


Arab theatrical performances include the Jordanian “Shadow of a Female,” the Iraqi “On Private,” the Iraqi “Cart,” the Moroccan “Balasmya,” the Moroccan play “Fall,” the Tunisian “Fall Night,” and the Tunisian play “Women in Resistance and Love.”
