CAIRO – 19 September 2017: Hull New Theatre, located in Kingston upon Hull, England, has opened up on Saturday after closing last year following a £16 million ($21.6 million) refurbishment, and featured a special performance by the Royal Ballet.

The event also marks the Royal Ballet’s first performance at the theatre in over 30 years. Seats for the performance were sold out so quickly that a second live relay was arranged. The show was titled, “Opening the New,” and was directed by Kevin O'Hare, who was born in Hull. The show featured performances by dancer siblings Xander and Demelza Parish, with Xander having trained at the Hull's Skelton Hooper School of Dance, which O’Hare also trained at.

One hundred students from four different dance schools in Hull also put on a free outdoor performance of “Take Flight,” a dance based off “Swan Lake.”
