CAIRO - 18 September 2017: Mazhar Ahmed and the Soul Masters band will perform a concert at the Open Air Theatre of Cairo Opera House on September 27 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Soul Masters have performed soul, jazz, and blues music for over 40 years.

Soul music is a genre that became popular and thrived between the 1950s and 1970s. It was influenced by Stax, Motown, and Atlantic Records, all of which played an important role in shaping the music business. It is the combination between rhythm, blues, and gospel.

At the end of 1940s, after the World War and the consequent economic crisis, soul music was used as a kind of expression for the feelings and hopelessness of ethnic groups; communicating their sadness over their condition through soul music.

Some of the most acclaimed performers of soul music include Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Al Green, James Brown, and Marvin Gaye.
