CAIRO – 13 September 2017: September 13 remarks the first show of the musical of ‘Les Misérables’ in 1989 at Fisher Theatre, Detroit located at the Fisher Building, a landmark skyscraper in the U.S. state Michigan.

The concert is based on the classic 1862 novel ‘Les Misérables’ written by Victor Hugo that talks mainly about the causes and the progress of the French revolution and how the French people suffered a lot of poverty and hunger. Its main characters are Jean Valjean who was put in prison for 19 years only for stealing a loaf of bread and Fantine who falls in love with a rich man who abandons her after becoming pregnant.

The novel was adapted into musical composed by Claude-Michel Schönberg, and the lyrics were written by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, with an English-language.

It was first set in early 19th century whose plot follows the stories of many characters as they struggle for redemption and revolution. The musical first opened at the Barbican Centre in London, England October 8, 1985, that was considered the second longest musical in the world after the longest running show in the West End the Fantasticks.
