Culture Minister opens book fair at Saint Mark's Cathedral

CAIRO - 5 September 2017: Minister of Culture Helmy al-Namnam inaugurated Monday, the second edition of the book fair organized by the General Egyptian Book Authority in the Coptic Culture Center of Saint Mark's Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbasya district in Cairo. The book fair will continue until September 13, and will start daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“We plan to organize a book fair in every church,” Namnam declared. Bishop Armia thanked the Ministry of Culture and the General Egyptian Book Authority for holding several book fairs in different places in the cathedral. “Culture is now transmitted to people everywhere,” Armia said.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Culture on Tuesday, the minister announced that in 2018 will be the 50th anniversary of the Cathedral establishment and the Ministry of Culture is preparing for a grand ceremony to celebrate the golden jubilee of the Cathedral.
