CAIRO – 3 September 2017: Egyptian photographer Hadeer Mahmoud released a new documentary project in cooperation with The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, The Prince Claus Fund and Arab Documentary Photography Program team on Saturday.

The project entitled ‘Love, Loss, and Longing,’ showed a number of situations that women experienced following arrests of loved ones.

Mahmoud wanted to shed light on the emotions of a lonely woman who lost her husband due to political issues after January 25 Revolution, according to her personal account on Facebook.

“A large number of arrests have taken place in Egypt – many of them unfounded. Separated from their lovers, heartbroken women are telling stories of love, loss and longing,” according to a released statement by Mahmoud.

The Arab Documentary Photography program is a program that is funded by the Prince Clause Fund and Arab Fund for Arts and Culture to support talented photographers.

The program aims to produce a number of unconventional documentaries to reflect the social life of Arabs.
