CAIRO – 1 September 2017: The Aswan and Nubian-based band Afronoubia is to give a concert on Monday, September 11 at 8 pm in the open air theatee at the Cairo Opera House. The price of the concert’s ticket is LE 35 ($1.95).

Afronoubia is an Egyptian band performing a blend of African rhythms and reggae that feature an African and Nubian depiction. The band was established in January 2014 and gathers a group of young musicians united by the love of southern music, which starts from Nubia going through Africa and meeting the Caribbean, the origins of reggae.

Brought together by their love of music, Afronoubia’s members are well known for mixing the music of the Caribbean in reggae and delivering fragments of their roots to their audience, according to a statement by El Sawy Culture Wheel.

The band also plays other types of music genres including ray, jazz and blues, along with merging Nubian heritage into their music production. The band presents a mix of music combining Nubian, Egyptian and African heritage. “Never Forget Your Roots” is their main slogan. In their work, they call for fighting discrimination in music.
