CAIRO – 30 August 2017: Italian actor Alessandro Borghi will be hosting the opening and closing ceremonies for the 74th Venice International Film Festival 2017. The opening will begin on August 30 and the closing ceremony takes place on September 9.

The winners of the Lion award will be announced during the closing festival.
Born on September 19, 1986, Borghi is a shining new star in the Italian scene and one of the country's most promising new actors. His work includes 2015's Non essere cattivo (Don't Be Bad) and the 2015 crime thriller Suburra. He will also be starring in a series adaptation of Suburra on Netflix, which is Italy's first production on the service.

Borghi won the Nastro d’Argento award during the 73rd Venice International Film Festival.
