CAIRO - 20 August 2017: Jazz ensembles, Cairo Steps and Quadro Nuevo are collaborating on the new album 'Flying Carpet' that will be released on September 15.

Founded in 2002 by German jazz pianist Matthias Frey and Egyptian oud player Basem Darwisch, Cairo Steps is an international jazz group that merges Egyptian oriental music with jazz rhythms including classical music and electronic beats. The ensemble is conducted by Sebastian Müller-Schrobsdorff, German jazz pianist and conductor. Their music is also inspired by traditional Sufi music.

Cairo Steps has performed in various venues in Egypt and Germany including Cairo Opera House, Sayed Darwish Theater, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Berlin, Munich, Bonn, and Düsseldorf.

Quadro Nuevo, founded in 1996, is a German world music and jazz ensemble which is one of the most successful "groundbreaking" music groups; they have performed almost 1500 concerts in the past 20 years.

The ensemble was founded by four of the band members, guitarist Robert Wolf, saxophonist Mulo Francel, bassist D.D. Lowka , and folk accordion player Andreas Hinterseher.

The upcoming album that is produced by Justin Time Records will be a mix between both of the ensemble's styles with a unique twist. The album, a collection of their concert tours from earlier this year, is a cross between the different cultures and music traditions which will mostly be composed by Mulo Francel and Basem Darwisch and include songs such as 'Sun'(Shams), ' Ikarus' Dream' and 'Cairo Café'.
