CAIRO - 19 August 2017: English director, Stephan Frears will be awarded the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory at the Filmmaker Award of the 74th Venice International Film Festival. The award show will take place on August 30 through September 9.

The award winning director is known for his high fidelity films like Philomena. He was nominated for awards over 50 times during the span of his career.

His latest production “Victoria & Abdul” will be premiering worldwide in Venice as part of the 74th Venice International Film Festival. ‘Victoria & Abdul’ is set in 1887 England.

Abdul Karim flies out from India to present Queen Victoria with the ceremonial coin.

From that meeting an unexpected friendship begins that questions the relations of race, power, and religion.

The film is starring award winning actress Judi Dench as Queen Victoria and Bollywood actor, Ali Fazal as Abdul Karim.

The 74th edition of the festival is organized by La Biennale di Venezia and hosted by actor Alberto Barbera. This festival has the primary goal of raising awareness about all the different aspects of the international entertainment industry including art and cinema.

The festival honors those who have contributed in shaping the history of cinema.
