CAIRO – 11 August 2017: The General Authority for Cultural Palaces will host illiteracy-eradication classes, as well as culture and art competitions, in its buildings, implementing the cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education, stated the head of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces, Ashraf Amer, on Friday.

The authority aims to revive culture after the 25th January Revolution in order to tackle any deficiencies, Amer said, referring that he depends on humans inside and outside the authority to reform culture.

Amer has been discussing increasing the budget to construct more buildings in the authority and to restore and maintain 590 old buildings, he added.

He intends to develop the border regions and abandoned villages by constructing palaces, cultural centers and youth centers in cooperation with the ministries of youth and education.

Although the General Authority for Cultural Palace is currently one of the sectors of the Ministry of Culture, it was established before the ministry at the National Party Conference in 1945 to spread culture among people in different fields, including cinema, theater, music, folk art and fine arts.
