CAIRO – 2 August 2017: Egyptian Theater Art House opens its doors for acting and theater amateurs to participate in a free-entry workshop called “Start your Dream,” which will be launched in October.

Applications are open until August 26 and youth participation is encouraged in the theater production, according to a released statement by the Ministry of Culture.

The training workshops will involve teaching participants the ability to tell a story and master the art of performance, according to Youth Theater Director Adel Hassan.

Hassan added in the statement that the acting workshops will also feature training in directing, production, screenwriting, costumes, singing, music performance and dance.

The six-month workshop will end in March 2018, when participants, whose age should range between 18-45 years old, are required to present a graduation project highlighting all the skills they acquired through a complete live theater performance.

Another workshop called “House of Tales” that specializes in storytelling is also being held, which trains participants on writing and performing scripts of various types, such as dance, musicals, and circus.

The “House of Tales” workshop is set to start in November of this year and end in January 2018, with its conclusion featuring a unique collection of individual and group storytelling performances supervised by artist Mohamed Abdel Fattah.

Both workshops have received a total of 3,800 applications to date, whereas acceptance tests will be carried out in September.
