CAIRO – 2 August 2017: HBO confirmed Monday that it fell victim to a cyberattack that leaked unreleased data about its #1 TV series, Game of Thrones, on the internet. A detailed script for episode four, “The Spoils of War”, which will be screened next week, was stolen and leaked on the internet, according to The Independent.

“It's unfortunate, as many fans won't actually want to read spoilers for the episode, but now they're out there, they are difficult to resist,” The Independent wrote.

“The problem before us is unfortunately all too familiar in the world we now find ourselves a part of,” HBO Chief Executive Richard Plepler said. “I can assure you that senior leadership and our extraordinary technology team, along with outside experts, are working round the clock to protect our collective interests. The efforts across multiple departments have been nothing short of herculean.”

It is not the first time GOT has witnessed this incident, as it happened before with Season 6, which was almost totally leaked.
