'The Legend of Abdel Hadey' to be screened at Prince Taz palace

CAIRO – 2 August 2017: The Documentary Cinema Salon will be held in Prince Taz Palace Creativity Center, in association with the Cultural Development Fund on Wednesday, August 2, at 6:00 p.m.

The fine arts film ‘The Legend of Abdel Hadey’ directed by Ahmed Foaud Darawish in 1983 will be screened at the salon. The film is about the great fine artist ‘Abdel Hadey El-Gazar,’ following the stages of his creativity and his development within the Fine arts.

Abdel Hadey el-Gazar is was born in Alexandria in 1925 and studied in the Faculty of Medicine, but he then left it to join the Faculty of Fine Arts of Photography department.

He participated in numerous international exhibitions and his name is registered in Arabic, Italian, French and international encyclopedias and the encyclopedia of Africa at UNESCO.

Gazar won several awards such as the Order of the Republic of Science and Art of the first class in 1954 for the High Dam Painting, the first prize by Cairo Salon in 1963 and the Golden Feather by the fourth honorary exhibitions for artist in 2006.

The Cultural Development Fund usually transfers the historic sites after being restored into creativity centers to develop the cultural level at the residents near these sites.

For example, Prince Taz Palace built by Amir Taz in 1352 and is one of the most well known Mamluk palaces remaining in historic Cairo.
