CAIRO - 28 July 2017: Devastated by the departure of the late Chester Bennington, a group of three fans decided to host a memorial service honoring his life on July 29 at Yellow Umbrella.

After going on social media to consolidate their grief, Doaa El-Banna and Jihad Mahmoud found Linkin Park Egypt, a fan page on Twitter and Facebook group that unites Linkin Park fans in Egypt. Together with Lina Mohamed, they decided to throw a memorial service for the late lead singer of Linkin Park, Chester Bennington.

What was originally a small get together has grown to become a nationwide event with people from different governorates planning to attend the event.

The memorial will serve as a space for all Linkin Park’s fans to share their grievance. There will be food, drinks and Linkin Park music. People are invited bring along posters and candles to honor Bennington.The ticket for the memorial service is LE 50 ($2.79).

After battling a mental illness Bennington died on July 20 at the age of 41 by committing suicide. His death took people and fans from around the world by surprise raising questions about the stigma behind mental health. Nearly 10 days after his death, people continue to mourn his departure.

Linkin Park has launched a suicide prevention website, chester.linkinpark.com, to pay tribute to their late lead singer. The site provides suicide prevention information and includes phone numbers for the U.S. services Suicide Prevention Lifeline and Crisis Text Line as well as allows fans to send their condolence to the late singer.
