'Youth role in Cultural Reform' to kick off on July 30

CAIRO – 25 July 2017: The Supreme Council of Culture received 1800 applications from youth requesting participation in the first Egyptian Cultural Conference titled ‘’Youth role in Cultural reform,’’ which will be organised by the cultural Youth committee affiliated to the Supreme Council of Culture.

The conference will kick start on July 30 and will last till August 5, both in Cairo and Luxor, under the slogan of ‘’Egypt is strong with its youth.’’ The supreme Council of Culture is working currently to choose 250 young people out of the 1,800 applicants.

The council will pick the participants from different artistic fields like Theatre, dancing, Cinema, music, fine arts, heritage, and archelogy in addition to artistic projects' owners. The applicant age should not exceed 35.

The conference is expected to discuss issues concerning the culture scene including the decline in quality of culture production and in the effect of Egyptian culture worldwide, according to a released statement by the Supreme Council of Culture on Friday.

Targeting a certain segment of society, the convention is aimed to communicate with Egyptians aging between 17 and 35 years old, who are active members of all types of arts including theatre, cinema, dance, fine arts, drawing, sculpture, photography, literature, poetry, and antiquities.
