CAIRO – 21 July 2017: A new wax figure for American R&B singer Beyoncé at Madame Tussauds museum in New York has caused some brouhaha on social media, as visitors claim that it looks nothing like her.

Fans and visitors did not like the fact that the wax figure is white and they accused the museum of whitewashing. One disapproving fan wrote on Twitter Who is that? Becky with the good hair? That's no Beyonce

On the other side, Madame Tussauds has rejected claims of "whitewashing" and it issued a statement defending the sculpture. It said that lighting and flash photography can sometimes distort the image.

"Our talented team of sculptors takes every effort to ensure we accurately color match all of our wax figures to the celebrity being depicted," the company told TMZ website."Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the color of our wax figures," it added.
