CAIRO – 19 July 2017: Comic book legend Stan Lee was honored by Hollywood in a hand and footprint ceremony Tuesday morning, the first one ever to be held at Hollywood's TCL Chinese Theater.

The ceremony comes over a week after the death of Stan Lee's wife of 70 years, Joan, on July 6. Lee personally thanked her in a heartfelt speech to the crowd, and he also thanked all of his friends for supporting him throughout the years.

True to his comical nature however, Lee also gave a cheerful comment, with the National quoting that he "would have asked for a raise" if he had known just how great he was.

Born Stanley Martin Lieber on December 22, 1922 in New York City, Lee started from humble roots working as an assistant at Timely Comics during 1939.

He would eventually climb up the ranks to become vice editor of Marvel Comics in 1961, going on to create legendary and iconic characters such as Spiderman, The Fantastic Four, and the Incredible Hulk with the help of artist-writers Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby.
