CAIRO - 26 March 2020: Finance Minister Mohamed Maait urged on Thursday taxpayers to submit their tax returns by April 16.
In a statement, Maait said individuals and legal persons are urged to submit their returns electronically as part of precautionary measures taken by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Dues for submitting the returns electronically will be cancelled this year because of the current crisis, he added.
The minister urged the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) staffers to respond to taxpayers' inquiries instantly through hotline 16395 or email info@eta.gov.eg to encourage them to submit their returns electronically.
Maait instructed the ETA to finalize the national digital transformation project of the taxing system to help simplify the procedures in line with the state's efforts to attract more investors and ease the business-doing climate.
