CAIRO - 27 February 2020: Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saeed discussed with Vice President and Assistant Treasurer at Pfizer Inc. Brian McMahon, and his accompanying delegation, means of supporting Egypt vision 2030 in the health care field and internalizing the sustainable development goals.

The Pfizer delegation grouped the company's Country Manager for Egypt Yousri Nawar.

Saeed pointed out that her ministry is mainly responsible for outlining and following up the implementation of the national sustainable development agenda (Egypt vision 2030) which comes in line with the UN sustainable development goals and Africa Agenda 2063.

The Planning and Economic Development Ministry has recently announced the initial features of the updated Egypt vision 2030 which will be launched in a few months, Saeed said.

Egypt was one of the first countries in the region to draft a long-term strategy to represent a national version of the UN goals, Saeed said.

The new health insurance system and initiatives that the state implemented in the past period have greatly contributed to improving Egypt’s human development indicators, she added.

Meanwhile, Nawar said that his company established in 2019 Pfizer Egypt for bio-pharmaceuticals, a new legal body, as part of restructuring and development processes and pumped investments hitting $80 million.

The company considers pumping additional investments worth $70 million in the coming months to support its initiatives aiming to consolidate its long-tern strategic partnership with Egypt, he pointed out.
