EGX records sem-collective regression, loses LE3.8B of market cap.

CAIRO – 7 July 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended first session of the week with a semi-collective regression, losing about LE 3.8 billion of market capitalization, amid Arab and foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX 30 rose 0.11 percent, or 15.64 point, to close at 14,013.04 points.

On the other hand, the equally weighted index EGX 50 decreased 0.43 percent, or 8.95 points, to close at 2,078.11 points.

Moreover, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 lessened 4.52 percent, or 27 points, to close at 570.28 points, and the broader index EGX 100 dipped 3.89 percent, or 59.28 point, to 1,464.86 points.


Market capitalization lost LE 3.8 billion, recording LE 746.23 billion, compared to LE 750.08 billion in Thursday’s session.

The trading volume reached 121.02 million shares, traded through 11,757 transactions, with a turnover of LE 470.03 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 101.23 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 41.83 million, and LE 59.4 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 24.84 million, and LE 1.75 million, respectively, while foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 1 million.

Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 43.58 million, and LE 58.39 million, respectively, while Egyptian organizations bought at LE 76.39 million.

Porto Group, Egyptian Arabian (cmar) Securities Brokerage EAC, and Housing & Development Bank were top gainers of the session by 4.49 percent, 4.29 percent and 3.96 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, EL Ezz Aldekhela Steel – Alexandria, Ezz Steel, Qatar National Bank Alahly were top losers of the session by 8.57 percent, 5.98 percent, and 5.97 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Thursday’s session in red, as EGX30 dipped 0.99 percent, EGX50 declined 1.16 percent, EGX70 inched down 0.87 percent, and EGX100 dropped 0.97 percent.
