EGX ends Wednesday on mixed performance

CAIRO – 4 July 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended second trading session of the week on mixed note, losing LE 412.87 million of market capitalization, amid Arab and foreign selling.

Earlier, EGX and the Central Bank of Egypt announced Sunday, June 30, to be an official holiday in celebration of the anniversary of June 30 revolution, and Trading to be resumed on Tuesday, July 2.

The benchmark EGX 30 gained 0.64 point, to stabilize at 14,137.22 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 increased 0.05 percent, or 1.15 points, to close at 2,111.6 points.

On the other hand, the small and mid-cap index EGX 70 inched down 0.16 percent, or 0.99 points, to close at 602.53 points, and the broader index EGX 100 dipped 0.16 percent, or 2.43 point, to 1,539 points.


Market capitalization lost LE 412.87 million, recording LE 756.65 billion, compared to LE 757.06 billion in Tuesday’s session.

The trading volume reached 228.97 million shares, traded through 18,609 transactions, with a turnover of LE 696.2 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 33.35 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 559,073, and LE 32.79 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 53.97 million, and LE 8.96 million, respectively, while foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 1.42 million.

Egyptian, Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 20.62 million, LE 9.5 million, and LE 31.36 million, respectively.

GMC Group for Industrial Commercial and Financial Investment, Sharkia National Food, and Sues Canal Company for Technology Settling were top gainers of the session by 9 percent, 7.77 percent and 5 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, El Obour Real Estate Investment, International Co for Investment & Development, and Samad Misr –EGYFERT were top losers of the session by 5.70 percent, 5.66 percent, and 4.67 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Tuesday's session with a semi collective rise, as EGX30 rose 0.25 percent, EGX50 hiked 0.33 percent, EGX100 climbed 0.05 percent, while EGX70 inched down 0.01 percent.
