CAIRO - 27 June 2019: Trade exchange between Egypt and Japan climbed 6.6 percent, recording $401 million during the first quarter of 2019, compared to $376 million during the same quarter of 2018, according to the Commercial Representative Office in Tokyo.

The office clarified in a report that Egypt's exports to Japan increased in the first quarter of 2019 to $93 million, compared to about $64 million in the same period of 2018, marking an increase of 45.3 percent.

Egypt's Ministry of Trade and Industry announced earlier that trade Exchange between Egypt and Japan marked an increase of 30.5 percent during 2018, recording $1.26 billion, compared to $969 million in 2017.

The Trade Ministry said in a statement that the most important Egyptian exports to Japan were oil, ready-made garments, carpets and cotton, while cars, tractors, machinery, electrical appliances, iron and steel, plastic and its products were the most important Egyptian imports from Japan.

CAIRO - 20 June 2019: Trade Exchange between Egypt and Japan marked an increase of 30.5 percent during 2018, recording $1.26 billion, compared to $969 million in 2017, according to Egypt's Ministry of Trade and Industry.




The commercial representative's report noted that Egypt's exports to Japan surged 105 percent in 2018, recording $271 million, compared to $132 million in 2017.

Egypt’s imports from Japan increased to $994 million in 2018, up from $837 million in 2017, according to the report.

The report is issued in conjunction with the Egyptian participation in the upcoming global economic summit of the G20, which will be held in Osaka, Japan on June 28-29, in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the African Union.
