EGX ends Thursday in green, market cap. gains LE 2.47B

CAIRO – 21 March 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended last session in the week in green, and market capitalization gained around LE 2.47 million, amid Egyptian and Arab purchases.

The benchmark EGX30 hiked 0.40 percent, or 58.41 points, to close at 14,782.81 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 increased 0.57 percent, or 13.66 points, to reach 2,405.87 points,

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 rose 0.19 percent, or 1.33 points, to close at 685.53 points, and the broader index EGX100 inched up 0.25 percent, or 4.39 point, to 1,740.72 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 2.47 billion, recording LE 820.78 billion, compared to LE 818.31 billion in Wednesday’s session.

The trading volume reached 111.31 million shares, traded through 17,001 transactions, with a turnover of LE 662.66 million.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 61.75 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 28.66 million and LE 33.1 million, respectively.

Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 9.44 million, and LE 9.57 million, respectively, while Egyptian individuals were net sellers at LE 7.35 million.

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 36 million and LE 23.65 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 71.33 million.

Cairo for Investment and Real Estate Development, Six of October Development & Investment (SODIC), and Global Telecom Holding were top gainers of the session by 5.05 percent, 3.86 percent and 3.85 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, October Pharma, Cairo Oils & Soap, and Wadi Kom Ombo Land Reclamation were top losers of the session by 9.99 percent, 2.58 percent, and 2.27 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Wednesday’s session on mixed note, as EGX30 rose 0.54 percent, EGX100 increased 0.02 percent, while EGX50 inched down 0.15 percent, and EGX70 dipped 0.02 percent.
