CAIRO – 14 March 2019: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ends Thursday’s session in red, and market capitalization lost around LE 3.6 billion, amid foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX30 decreased 0.89 percent, or 134.5 points, to close at 14,991.34 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 dipped 0.35 percent, or 8.7 points, to reach 2,453.99 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 declined 0.52 percent, or 3.63 points, to close at 697.98 points, and the broader index EGX100 decreased 0.50 percent, or 8.93 point, to 1,771.07 points.

Market capitalization lost LE 3.59 billion, recording LE 831.26 billion, compared to LE 834.85 billion in Wednesday’s session.

The trading volume reached 188.92 million shares, traded through 28,877 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.24 billion.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 152.6 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 130.42 million and LE 22.17 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 100.39 million, and LE 6.73 million, respectively, while foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 2.08 million.

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 30.03 million, and LE 15.45 million, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 150.5 million.

Sabaa International Company for Pharmaceutical and Chemical, Heliopolis Housing, and Universal For Paper and Packaging Materials (Unipack) were top gainers of the session by 7.61 percent, 4.74 percent and 4.06 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Egyptian International Pharmaceuticals (EIPICO), Egyptian Satellites (NileSat), and Alexandria Spinning & Weaving (SPINALEX) were top losers of the session by 9.38 percent, 5.99 percent, and 5.47 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Wednesday’s session on mixed note, as EGX30 decreased 0.09 percent, EGX70 dipped 0.71 percent, EGX100 declined 0.56 percent, while EGX50 increased 0.04 percent.
