EGX ends Monday in red for 2nd consecutive session

CAIRO – 26 November 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Monday’s session in red for second consecutive session, losing LE 3.77 billion of market capitalization, amid Arab and foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX30 declined 0.79 percent, or 104.43 points, to close at 13,049.12 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 lessened 0.40 percent, or 8.49 points, to reach 2,161.95 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 inched down 0.15 percent, or 1.02 points, reaching 680.08 points, and the broader index EGX100 decreased 0.26 percent, or 4.41 points, to close at 1,697.44 points.


Market capitalization lost LE 3.77 billion, recording LE 741.53 billion, compared to LE 745.31 billion in Sunday’s session.

The trading volume reached 793.81 million shares, traded through 21,925 transactions, with a turnover of LE 793.81 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 89.92 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 16.8 and LE 73.12 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab individuals were net buyers at LE 55.8 million, and LE 7.6 million, respectively, while foreign individuals were net sellers at LE 1.69 million.

Egyptian organizations bought at LE 34.12 million,while Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 24.40 million, and LE 71.42 million, respectively.

Alexandria Cement, Mansourah Poultry, and Engineering Industries (ICON) were top gainers of the session by 8.36 percent, 7.16 percent and 6.03 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Al Tawfeek Leasing Company-A.T.LEASE, El Ahram Co. For Printing And Packing, and Lecico Egypt were top losers of the session by 6.01 percent, 5.55 percent, and 5.54 percent, respectively.

EGX ended Sunday’s session in red, as EGX 30 lessened 3.82 percent, EGX50 declined 2.72 percent, EGX70 inched down 0.92 percent, and EGX100 went down 1.28 percent.
