EGX ends mid-week session in red, market cap. loses LE 5.2B

CAIRO – 13 November 2018: Indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) were colored by red by the end of Tuesday’s session, amid Arab and foreign selling, which was reflected on the market capitalization losing LE 5.2 billion.

The benchmark EGX30 lessened 0.98 percent, or 134.72 points, to close at 13,843.64 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 declined 0.91 percent, or 20.1 points, to reach 2,183.69 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 dropped 0.67 percent, or 4.7 points, reaching 697.08 points, and the broader index EGX100 decreased 0.81 percent, or 14.15 points, to close at 1,742.1 points.

Market capitalization lost LE 5.2 billion, recording LE 766.33 billion, compared to LE 781.53 billion in Monday’s session.

The trading volume reached 248.2 million shares, traded through 29,523 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.04 billion.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 120.9 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 51.36 and LE 69.54 million, respectively.

Egyptian, Arab and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 64.77 million, LE 10.45 million and LE 1.99 million, respectively.

Egyptian organizations bought at LE 56.14 million, while Arab and foreign organizations sold at LE 61.82 million and LE 71.54 million, respectively.

Wadi Kom Ombo Land Reclamation, Arab Aluminum, and Alexandria New Medical Center were top gainers of the session by 9.99 percent, 9.96 percent and 9.07 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Dice Sport & Casual Wear, South Cairo & Giza Mills & Bakeries, and Misr National Steel – Ataqa were top losers of the session by 8.82 percent, 7.11 percent, and 7.07 percent, respectively.

The EGX ended Monday’s session in mixed note, as EGX30 rose 0.79 percent, EGX50 hiked 0.70 percent, while EGX70 decreased 0.09 percent, and EGX100 stabilized at its levels.
