CAIRO - 12 Nov 2018: Planning Minister Hala el Saaed said that the value of government investments earmarked to the development of New Valley is estimated at 2.48 million pounds in fiscal year 2018/19.

In a statement on Monday, the Planning Ministry said that the minister said she discussed with New Valley Governor Mohamed el Zamlout the possibility of developing the governorate and encourage people to reside in it.

According to the latest studies, the population of the New Valley is estimated at 242,300 people and arable land per person is estimated at 1.45 feddans.

She further noted that the per-capita agricultural land and investment plan in the New Valley is the highest compared to the governorates of Assiut, Luxor, Menoufiya, Qalubiyah, Qena, Beni Suef, Souhag, Minya, Fayyoum and Gharbiyah.

The two sides also reviewed a study to lure 50,000 people to live in the governorate annually and to establish 10 model villages
