CAIRO - 28 August 2018: Transport Minister Hesham Arafat discussed on Tuesday with his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Yousif ways of fostering bilateral cooperation in the transport domains.

This came during a ministerial meeting ahead of the Egyptian-Sudanese presidential committee, which was held at the premises of Transport Ministry in Cairo.

The get-together tackled the importance of activating linkage between the two countries through railways. They also agreed on holding a joint technical committee in Khartoum.

The meeting touched on cooperation in the field of training, as the Egyptian side expressed his readiness for training Sudanese cadres in various railway programs.

The Egyptian and Sudanese officials mulled means of holding the joint technical committee on land transport, according to a protocol signed between the both countries. The committee is set to remove all obstacles in order to facilitate bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, they also stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of maritime transport.

The second week of September will witness convocation of the joint technical committee in the field of maritime transport and river navigation.
