CAIRO - 30 June 2018: Transport Minister Hisham Arafat discussed with Chief Executive of UK Export Finance (UKEF) Louis Taylor means of promoting joint cooperation in various fields of transportation.

The meeting was attended by British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson and senior cadres of the Transport Ministry.

During the meeting, Arafat asserted that the transport sector in Egypt witnesses huge development at the level of infrastructure and legislation, said a statement issued by the Transport Ministry on Saturday.

The railway law was amended to allow the private sector to participate in operating and establishing cargo and passenger lines in order to improve the services offered, the minister said.

He affirmed that the investment atmosphere in Egypt is promising, pointing out to a number of investment projects in the railway domain such as the Ain Sokhna/Marsa Allam line.

For his part, Taylor asserted that a number of British firms are keen on investing in the transport sector in Egypt, the statement concluded.
