EGX ends Thursday on mixed note ahead of Eid Al-Fitr holiday

CAIRO – 14 June 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Thursday on a mixed note, ahead of Eid Al-Fitr holiday, adding LE 624.41 million to its market capitalization, amid Egyptian and Arab purchases.

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) decided that Sunday and Monday, June 17 and 18, will be an official holiday on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

The market will resume trading on Tuesday June 19, according to an official statement issued on Monday.

The benchmark EGX30 rose 0.26 percent, or 42.65 points, to close at 16,220.93 points.
On the other hand, the equally weighted index EGX50 declined 0.08 percent, or 2.24 points, to reach 2,711.28 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 slipped 0.26 percent, or 2.05 points, closing at 800.82 points, and the broader index EGX100 went down 0.25 percent, or 5.11 points, to close at 2,043.53 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 624.41 million, recording LE 907.99 billion, compared to LE 907.37 billion in Wednesday’s session.

The trading volume reached 180.86 million shares, traded through 22,585 transactions, with a turnover of LE 1.168 billion.

Foreign investors were net sellers at LE 157.79 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers at LE 123.41 million and LE 34.37 million, respectively.

Egyptian individuals bought at LE 29.52 million, while Arab and foreign individuals sold at LE 1.25 million and LE 1.47 million, respectively.

Foreign organizations were net sellers at LE 156.32 million, while Egyptian and Arab organizations were net buyers at LE 93.89 million, and LE 35.63 million, respectively.

Arab Co. for Asset Management and Development, Atlas for Land Reclamation and Agricultural Processing, and CI Capital Holding were top gainers of the session by 376.36 percent, 8.06 percent and 8.05 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, Arab Cotton Ginning, Nozha International Hospital, and Memphis Pharmaceuticals were top losers of the session by 40.68 percent, 7.74 percent and 6.16 percent, respectively.

The EGX ended Wednesday’s session in green, as EGX30 rose 1.51 percent, EGX50 increased 1.31 percent, and EGX70 went up 0.54 percent, while EGX100 hiked 0.62 percent.

Trading on the EGX during the holy month of Ramadan is from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (CLT).
