EGX ends mid-week session on mixed performance

CAIRO – 12 June 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended mid-week's session in a semi collective height, adding LE 637.94 million to its market capitalization, amid Arab and foreign buying.

The benchmark EGX30 rose 0.11 percent, or 16.86 points, to close at 15,938.11 points.

The equally weighted index EGX50 increased 0.16 percent, or 4.19 points, to reach 2,678.38 points, and the small and mid-cap index EGX70 climbed 0.33 percent, or 2.66 points, closing at 798.54 points, while the broader index EGX100 went down 0.08 percent, or 1.68 points, to close at 2,036.09 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 637.94 million, recording LE 902.55 billion, compared to LE 901.91 billion in Monday’s session.

The trading volume reached 87.91 million shares, traded through 13,621 transactions, with a turnover of LE 485.86 million.

Egyptian investors were net sellers at LE 66.14 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net buyers at LE 5.88 million and LE 60.22 million, respectively.

Foreign individuals bought at LE 822,590, while Egyptian and Arab individuals sold at LE 1.17 million and 10.61 million, respectively.

Egyptian organizations were net sellers at LE 64.96 million, while Arab and foreign organizations were net buyers at LE 16.49 million, and LE 59.43 million, respectively.

Prime Holding, Misr Cement (Qena), and Modern Company for water proofing (Bitumode) were top gainers of the session by 9.95 percent, 8.83 percent and 8.33 percent, respectively.

On the other hand, MM Group for Industry and International Trade, Golden Coast Company, and Juhayna Food Industries were top losers of the session by 4.48 percent, 4.20 percent and 3.84 percent, respectively.

The EGX ended Monday’s session in red, as EGX30 decreased 1.37 percent, EGX50 slipped 0.79 percent, EGX100 went down 0.95 percent, and EGX70 declined 0.61 percent.

Trading on the EGX during the holy month of Ramadan is from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (CLT).

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) decided that Sunday and Monday, June 17 and 18, will be an official holiday on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr.

The market will resume trading on Tuesday June 19, according to an official statement issued on Monday.
