CAIRO – 7 May 2018: Egypt's leading online recruitment platform WUZZUF announced on Saturday’s event the new updates of its website, including a new interface and upgraded features to make it easier for employers to find the right candidates and for professionals to find the right job.

During “‘WUZZUF Unlock’18" event, the platform CEO, Ameer Sherif, said “With the new updates on WUZZUF platform, we are able to unlock the future of recruitment. Product Manager of WUZZUF, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, explained the new to-apply features in details, saying that these updates will allow the professionals to have full control over their profiles’ privacy, whether they make it public, closed to employers on WUZZUF, or even private.

Moreover, the new profile design and structure highlight the professional’s skills and core competencies; which help employers spot the right talents right away. Also, there will be a tracking feature that allows the professional to know if their application has been viewed, shortlisted, contacted, or rejected.

As for the employers, the new features will enable them to save time and money, allowing them to invite candidates to apply for a specific job by just a click.

“We began the company’s activities in 2009 and launched the official website in 2011. Since then, we have been aiding job seekers to find the right jobs," Sherif said in the press conference held on the sidelines of the event.

In 2013, WUZZUF received a fund from Startup 500, early-stage venture fund and seed accelerator. Two years later, the recruitment platform attracted further funding from investors in the US, UK, and Sweden and was able to launch the Forasna platform.

While WUZZUF website is a recruitment platform for highly educated professionals and university graduates, Forasna platform provides jobs for mid-level certificate holders and technicians. Both platforms are founded by BasharSoft startup which was cofounded by Sherif.

Recently, WUZZUF and Forasna announced that they have raised $6 Million in Series B funding that was led by four European and US venture capital (VC) funds. The fund will be used to increase the company staff, develop the two platforms to be easier for users and provide the job seekers with courses that help them develop their skills to suit the labor market. WUZZUF has over 200 employees who work in the platform; the number will be doubled during the two upcoming years.

Sherif estimated the number of accounts of university graduates who seek jobs on Wuzzuf by 1 million accounts, submitting around 10 million applications to 15,000 companies that employ over 500,000 people.

For future plans, WUZZUF and Forasna will focus on growing their operations inside and outside Egypt. Around 500 key players in the recruitment industry and job market in Egypt had the chance to be the first to experience WUZZUF new platform and its updates during the event’s activities.

When asked about the highly demanded jobs in the Egyptian market, Sherif said that there is a high demand for technology-related jobs, such as programmers, and digital marketing jobs.

As an online platform, WUZZUF paid a special concern to social media; the followers of WAZUFF and Forasna pages amount to more than a million followers for each page. They also arranged live shows to raise awareness about job opportunities and the required qualifications to be successful professionals.

Forbes Middle East had ranked WUZZUF #51 in its ranking list “Top 100 Startups in the Arab World 2017”.
