CAIRO - 19 March 2018: Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla said the petroleum sector will drill 10 wells within Phase 9b project in the West Nile Delta in the Mediterranean Sea as of April.

Head of Rashid Petroleum Company/Burullus Gas Company (Rashpetco) Hisham el Attar presented a report to the petroleum minister on gas production within the framework of Phase 9b project, which is part of the West Nile Delta (WND) project.

According to the report, the company will drill two exploration and eight production wells. The company will start by digging two exploration wells using Noble Globetrotter 1 (NGT1) drillship that have already moved from Gulf of Mexico to the drilling site.

Gas production will start from three wells within Phase 9b project during the fiscal year of 2018/2019, the report said.

Production will start from the other seven wells in 2019, it added.

The project will be implemented by the petroleum sector and Shell Company, with total investments amounting to 807 million dollars.
