CAIRO – 8 March 2018: Minister of International Cooperation and Investment Sahar Nasr and Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) Mohamed Farid rang the bell for Thursday's trading session in celebration of the International Women's Day.

This is the fourth consecutive year for the EGX to organize the “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” event in partnership with the UN Women Egypt Country Office and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to focus on issues related to gender equality and women’s empowerment in the work place.

"The event highlights the businesses case for women’s empowerment in terms of economic growth and sustainability, better governance and transparency, as well as other positive outcomes," Farid said.

These events reinforce ongoing government efforts to promote inclusive economic growth and social justice. They also take place within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a specific goal to achieve gender equality, as well as the Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS): Egypt Vision 2030, which includes important provisions for women’s empowerment.
