CAIRO – 14 February 2018: Nestlé is committed to inspire people to lead healthier lives by launching several ongoing initiatives, with a main focus of children’s health & wellness, Head of Nestlé Abidjan R&D Center, Joelle Oyouomi said at the recently held Africa Forum on Science Technology and Innovation (STI) in Cairo.

“Behind every one of Nestlé’s products, there is a team of scientists, engineers, nutritionists, designers, regulatory specialists and consumer care representatives dedicated to earn our consumers’ trust with safe products of the highest quality”, she said.

Oyouomi added that her company has the world's largest food and nutrition research organization, with about 5,000 people involved in R&D, as well as corporate venture funds and research partnerships.

She said that the R&D centers aim to assess products on both nutritional profiles and consumer acceptability so that products fit all consumer preferences and meet nutritional requirements for people.

Nestlé in-house fundamental research takes place in 4 centers, while proprietary high-tech product development takes place in our 39 product technology centers and R&D centers worldwide.

Nestlé has 418 plants in 86 countries, leading to the production of 2,000 recognizable brands, nearly 328,000 employees in 150 countries, and an estimated production of one billion products daily.

Held under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, the Africa STI forum was held from 10-12 February in Cairo. It was organized by the African Development Bank (AFDB) and the Egyptian Government.
