Int'l conf. for Iraq reconstruction kicks off with large participation

KUWAIT CITY - 12 February 2018: The International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq kicked off on Monday under the auspices of Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Sabah.

It coincides with Kuwait's hosting of the Non-governmental organizations to support the humanitarian situation in Iraq.

The conference kicked off with a meeting of high-level experts along a wide range of international figures. It will include a number of sessions and leaders from around the world that will talk about their humanitarian experiences.

Director General of the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development Abdel Wahab Badr, Secretary General of the Iraqi Cabinet Mahdi al Alaaq and Head of Iraq Fund for Reconstruction of Damaged Areas from Terrorism Mostafa al Heiti are attending the conference.

The conference started with a screening of a documentary film on the destruction of Ninawa governorate under terrorism.

The first day of the conference is allocated for Iraq reconstruction programs and international assistance in this regard as well as the development works carried out by the non-governmental organizations in Iraq.

The second day is allocated for expounding investment opportunities in Iraq and chances of the private sector there.

The third day will be allocated for a meeting of the foreign ministers and will be concluded by a final communique about the new financial allocations to be channeled to Iraq.

A number of donor sides, regional and international organizations are attending the conference. They include the European Union, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Nations and the World Bank.
