CAIRO - 11 February 2018: New investments have risen by 20.8 percent in January 2018 to stand at LE 5.2 billion, the Investment and International Cooperation Ministry said.

In the monthly bulletin on Sunday, the ministry added that investments have collectively climbed 53.1 percent in the first quarter of 2017-2018 FY in comparison with the corresponding period in the previous fiscal year to stand at LE 150 billion.

The private sector's investments leapfrogged 15.2 percent in the first quarter of 2017-2018 FY to stand at LE 78.1 billion, the ministry said.

The number of companies that were set up and expanded in January hit 1,780 (1,593 established companies and 187 expanded companies) against 1,628 companies in January 2017.

The newly established companies are expected to create about 7,000 jobs.
